My name is Chris Baba and I live in Frederick Maryland with my wife Megan and my dog Woody.  These web pages are mostly intended to share our photographs and interesting stories with friends and family members, especially those we don't keep in touch with as often as we should.

Some Recent News

I am recovering nicely from some major medical problems that I have had in the last decade.  For several years I have had horrible back and neck pain that was incorrectly diagnosed as a herniated disk in my lower spine.  This pain was so bad that I was unable to work for several years.  Then my left arm went numb and a new doctor was able to determine that this and my back pain were due to a herniated disk in my neck.

I had spinal fusion surgery in 2004 where they took out the bad disk in my neck and replaced it with a disk made out of cadaver bone.  This is all supposed to fuse together, but it took a long time for my bones to fuse together.  For a couple of years after the surgery I had very bad headaches and my left arm was still numb.  I had to wear a neck brace constantly for a couple of months and then only at night for about a year.  It was hell.

After the surgery I was given a "facet block" which was supposed to help the headaches some but it didn't do too much for me.  I also had to wear an electrical stimulator for about a year to get my bones to fuse properly.  This required placing round band-aid like electrodes on my neck.  These itched like hell in the summer  heat.

Anyway, I am now completely cured and I have been this way since around 2006.  I am now looking to get back to work doing laboratory medical research, but my old job was taken by another person.
